I just ordered BT module and looking forward to putting it to good use. If I have the BT module connected do I need to have the APP running on my phone to get alerts?

Also is there a install directions in the box?

Yes, The app needs to run and its best to leave it running 100% of the time and it will auto connect every-time you start the car. Basic instructions are included with the product but its really simple plug and play. Connect it to the controller port and open the app on your phone and it will ask for the PIN on the back of the unit enter it and your are done.

SInce this thread has to do with Bluetooth andTHE ALP APP here is tie in question regarding the support for the OTA network

The latest update indicates

Initial Release to Support “Over the Air” OTA wireless firmware updates of the ALP system over the ALPConnect® smartphone app. The latest ALP BT Module is required!
The 5.1.3 firmware update needs to be applied via USB flash drive and only then will future updates be possible on the OTA feature of the ALPConnect!

How can I tell if my module is recent.?
The numbers on it are 5123A BGTBLE112

Update the firmware and hit the update button. It will either tell you that you are current or that your BT module needs to be updated.

There is also a Sticky on this with instructions on how to use BT to update your firmware with this info.

Yes, To add the BT you need to unplug the Control Set and plug in the BT. The External LED will still stay and work as it always has.

So I have had my ALP connected to a Samsung 7inch tab that I keep in my center console and at first I thought it was a great idea but not so much now. On the way home from work and I see an alert on my waze app of a Leo ahead and one I know that likes to hide in the area. So I think great my first chance to give this alp a real test but I look at my led light and notice it's green. Crap now I scramble for the tablet to see what's up as I grab it I hear it connect. But still green so I slow lift and slow to get past Leo with no alert and no real time test. But now I'm thinking the the blue tooth is not so great. I think I'm going to go back to the always connected control set just use the blue tooth for updates. Has anybody had this kind of problem losing connection?

I find the app needs to be restarted once in awhile.
I had issues with it on my s4, so sticking to the iPhone which has been rock solid.

Is it possible to connect 2 CPUs to the Bluetooth app in the same time with 1 phone? I mean to have 1 CPU in the rear trunk, 1 CPU in the front. I can't manage easily the wires going from front to rear of the car. Thanks

No, you can only connect your one CPU at a time using BT.
