So I had my install done yesterday and everything looks good going to load the USB stick today.
Should the ALP unit turn on and off when I start my car? The installer hooked it up to a constant power source and told me I need to turn it on and off on my own.

*Should the ALP unit turn on and off when I start my car? The installer hooked it up to a constant power source and told me I need to turn it on and off on my own.* - That's not a good practise to do, when cranking the engine a transient power surge could damage the electronics, it's best to wait till the engine is running before turning on your Parking Sensors or RD. Always turn them off before shutting the engine off...otherwise, you'll probably forget the next time that you left everything ON & when cranking the engine next day could result in damage.
That's pretty cheesy. He should have connected it to a switched circuit. There is no reason to have it on if your not driving.

4552The install directions say to connect the red wire to a switched positive power supply.

Have him move the wire to a switched circuit, pain in the butt to keep it on a Hot circuit, should take him 5 minutes to make that change

That's just another visual alert you can stick someplace in your view, so when you are hit it will also flash to gain your attention
