Good evening, I came across this site researching upgrading my RX65 from 2006 to something a bit more sensitive. Then hardwiring the old RX into my wife's car.
Cheers,
JW

JWHi & Welcome to the Forum.
I'm curious about the RX-65 you have...what is the FCC ID # shown on the label sticker (bottom of RD) ?

Thanks guys,

FCC ID: QL4G7M4

I'm sold on the Redline with Bluetooth Cable, not sure if I'll do the external speaker also, the required placement is a question, I like really clean installs. I'm windings down some classes and training then I'll have time to properly re-hardwire it all next month. I wired my wife's new a Golf Sport Wagen already when I did her dash cam, that was a real pain.

Really no need for an external speaker on a Redline

Hmm I thought I responded but the response hasn’t shown up and it's been a day.

Anyway I had the internal speaker die in my RX65 three times since I bought it in in 2006. The only real negative things I've read about the Redline are that the speaker isn’t very loud and tends to die. I figured one of the Escort external speakers may be a good idea. I normally listen to Podcasts when I drive but when I do have music going and the windows down I miss alerts pretty easy.

Can the speaker be mounted under the dash or in the arm rest and still be loud enough? Or is it super directional and the face needs to be exposed?

Also I see people talking about "The New Redline" when clearly the Redline has been out for years. How does one know they got a "New Redline" instead of an older Redline? Is it just a firmware update or are the components different?

Thanks!

Thanks!Rather than me typing a lengthy Post answering this question...I'm going to press the "Easy Button" & send you to the answer you're looking for. Go to the "Escort Section" & there you will find 2 "Sticky" Threads, one written by BestRadarDetectors & the other by member CJR238 describing the updated features that have been incorporated into the Redline that make it the KING of W/S mounted RDs.

Also, if you refrain from turning the Redline volume to its upper range settings it will probably not blow-out like some have to those who do.

Redline, Live Cable, and Escort External Speaker coming Friday.
Actually called Escort directly seeing if they would let me use that father's day coupon code that I missed and the sales guy gave me an even better dealer than the $100 off.
Retiring the old RX65 to the wife's Sportwagen and re-wiring the Evolution this weekend.
I'll post some photos when I finish.

Redline is a great detector, but get the extended warranty for the $29.95.................a word to the wise should be sufficient

I had to send my RX65 in three times since I owned it to get the speaker replaced. In hindsight I should have just done it myself. But yes, I did do the warranty, I saw a few people posting that it's a smart move.
