Hi Everyone,
I just registered a few days ago and this is my first post. I am from the Sandy Springs area in Northern Atlanta. I just received my ALP 5 sensor system, with HIFI, RG module, 9500CI antennae, and GPS antenna. I plan on trying a self installation on my 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo S. For me, the integrated 9500CI antennae appealed more than separate systems. I have a hard wired Passport 9500xi currently.

I am going to attempt a self install, and hopefully now that I have introduced myself, I can post some pictures in the placement advice section so I can get some help. Pic of car below.
Regards to all,
Dave

Thank you of the welcome. I am not an expert installer, but in the past I have done a subwoofer installation on a Corvette I owned, and done catback exhaust installs, replaced some door speakers in a Viper, and hard wired some radar detectors. Been doing a lot of reading on this Forum and am pretty sure I will be posting some threads for help. But I always do searches to see if I can answer my questions first before posting a thread.

If you can install car audio you should be able to easily install the system yourself. Feel free to contact us with any questions and welcome to the forum.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I hope to get started with the install in a day or two. I have another vehicle so I can take my time on this.

Thanks again for the warm reception. I bought the laser tester from BRD, along with the other equipment, so I think I am good to tell if it is working after I do get it installed. I assume the tester is good for that?

I am not the Dave who ran the Cannonball. This 911 has never been on a track. I get going, but not a track guy at all, really. Just a suburban guy that likes to go fast sometimes! It is so easy to get into triple digits in this car. I also have an aftermarket exhaust and a tune, so the car has about 640 horsepower vs the stock 560.

I'm over in West GA and almost always available for impromptu testing if you want to visit my neck of the woods :3
Just added a laser atlanta to my arsenal.

The tester does Nothing for real world test--all it does is confirm that your ALP is picking up alll the guns!! Good tester for that, but for "real world" you need a member here to actually shoot you and test your set up!! there is no other way to do it correctly. SO in a sense you may be ok but you cannot be sure until you get tested

You drive that bad boy to Anchorage Alaska and Ill be glad to test you with my LRB lidiar gun )

Welcome!
We have several members here with guns to test you and we have meets periodically too.
Testing is the final step. Level, true, and clear view of the 180 degrees around the sensor is ideal. We have had some 9xx Po'chees with less than adequate placement fail our tests. Hardware is important, installation is importantER, and testing is importantEST! In slang of course. 😁😁

Thank you for the heads up. I guess I willing post for some testing help after I am set up and programmed. Most of the install pics I see have the diode sticking out a bit, so I get what you say about the 180 degree clearance. I'll be sure to keep that in mind.

I'll be sure to keep that in mind. It's not necessary to be overly anal about having 'em protruding some. A slight recess is ok for "stealth" purposes in mounting especially if you reside in an area or State where they are banned. What you risk in doing so is the "shading" effect that occurs in really close encounters from a street level off-axis shot or same from an overpass shot from above. We're talking of a few hundred feet here & by that time you should have already eyeballed the sniper hundreds of feet ago well beforehand !
