I had my ALP with bluetooth installed 2 weeks ago & all has been perfect until now :(
2 days ago I got a software update from T-Mobile to upgrade to 5.0.1 from 4.4.2
Since this upgrade my ALP connects from green to blue & while driving switches off to green & min. later back to defense mode.
This is constant every few minutes whiling driving so my ALP is now useless. My guess is the software update did this correct?
I deleted the app and I cleared the bluetooth and did a new scan & entered pin# and I still have this problem!

Something in your update is causing BT issue failures. You cant go back to the regular Android OS? I always ignore phone updates and let others be the guinea pig and work out bugs before I update. What version of ALP Connect are you running?

I can have AL look into it next week but please provide information on your phone and the full android version. I would switch back to the control set if you cant go back to the previous os version for now.

Excellent idea and will do so tomorrow as I have to take a long trip over next 3 days.

My phone is LG G3 model # LG-D851
Android version 5.0.1

Not a clue how to go back to original OS.

Just a thought, Do you have another device that you can use? Maybe a friend? Just to double check and make sure its the software up date that is causing the issue.

factory reset would probably make it go back to original OS?

edit - back up your phone first if you try it haha

I hope I'm not jumping the gun here?

I believe clearing the bluetooth and rescanning did the trick?
I forgot that when I tried the rescan it asked me for my pin # and I wasn't @ home @ the time.
When I got home I did the rescan and later went out and so far no issues @ all.
Deleting the ALPconnect app and reinstalling didn't do the trick but the rescan of bluetooth I think did it?

I'm going out of town tomorrow over next couple days will drive over 600 miles so I'll know better later.

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions APPRECIATED!

So bottom line is if this works is when someone updates their phone to new firmware? if u have bluetooth clear, rescan & set your pin.

I just got back from a 8 hr trip to PA from upstate NY.
Good news: my ALP only switched off 1 time from blue defense mode to green park mode & back to defense mode.
Coming home: it switched off & on 4 times. This surely is better then what it was like every 15 mins.
My guess is it's one of the following? let me know your thoughts.

1. Going from software 4.4.2 to 5.0.1.?
2. Phone losing internet signal in certain areas going from 4G to less then 2G?
If app is losing bluetooth signal would this NOT be a issue?

Meanwhile: Good news is I got most my $ back as I was shot with laser as follows...

Going to PA. "Marksman Compact" clocked @ 79 in a 65.

Going back home to Rochester, NY

1. Poliscan - doing 74 in 65
2. Poliscan - doing 70 in 65
3. Poliscan - doing 65 in 65

Being that your phone worked fine before you upgraded the O/S I am sure there is a BT issue with phone & O/S. Try to reload original firmware on your phone and see if all issues go away.

ALP does not use phone data at all so going from 4G to 2G or even loosing signal completely would have bearing on your BT connection.

Sorry to say I'm back where I started :( I'm now losing signal every few mins. keeps dropping from defense to park & back to defense.
Looks like I can't use my bluetooth so I disconnected it and went back to the control connection. Haven't driven car yet to see what's up?
Far as going back to original O/S I don't want to deal with losing everything on my phone & backing up so for now staying with new firmware 5.0.1

Thanks for your time & HELP! Barry

Maybe you could pick up a cheap used Android or iOS phone to use as a dedicated ALP controller, or even a cheap new prepay one like the Verizon MotoG. Since no data is needed you wouldn't need service on the phone.

Or just spring for the HiFi control set. :) I prefer this option personally because the Bluetooth solution has too many "moving parts" that can go wrong, as you discovered.

Another benny to a 2nd phone is you can run ALP Connect on one and YaV1, Live or Waze on the other.
