Connecting Android phone to ALP's USB port?

At the risk of being ridiculed: is the USB port on the ALP safe to use for charging, and how much current does it advertise for charging?

That port is in the perfect place on my install for hardwiring my YaV1/ALPConnect phone and I'm a lazy person.

No, Its not to be used as a charger and drawing extra current could certainly cause issues.
