Hi Radar & Laser forum! Long time reader, first time poster. I've been running a V1 for the past 10 years or so, and just switched over to the AL Priority. Loving it so far, but now trying to come up with a solution to cut down on the K-band falsing. Cheers!

Welcome! From what I have garnered from other SF locals is the CHP doesn't run K band. Only reports of K band usage have been local LEO's in San Mateo and Sacramento. The recommendation I received is if you mostly drive spirited on the highway, you can opt to disable K band. Just passing along what I read.

If you've been running K band for 10 years...have you ever seen a legit K band hit in the SF Bay Area on the freeways?

Welcome to the forum... K Band Pollution is a pain in the ass. You can try using TSR and it will cut out quite a bit of the falses on K Band.

Welcome fellow SF Bay Area guy. Yep, just nuke that K band setting. You are more likely to win the lottery than get a legit K band hit off a LEO in California.

I'm driving to Mariposa/Yosemite this weekend. Do I need to worry about K band along any of those state highways in Mariposa/Merced counties?

That will be CHP coverage, no need for K band. National Park Rangers are using Ka in Yosemite.

Where would the local PDs/county sheriffs be in those areas? And do they have K band?

They are all state 2 lane highways going to and from, traffic patrolled only by CHP. I think the closest actual police departments to Yosemite are pretty far away, in Fresno or Merced, depending on which way you go. Either way, you don't encounter them unless you pull off the freeway for gas or McDonalds. Just go with Ka, you're be safe.

Actually, funny story as my last trip to Yosemite I stopped in Merced on the way back home. Hot as hell, it was probably 108 degrees in July. My g/f and I pull into a mall that had a ice cream place, and 3 or 4 police cars come screaming into the parking lot, one of them almost crashing into my car. I guess someone shoplifted some underwear at the local KMart next door.

Are you driving from the Bay Area or SoCal?

Thanks for the input and warm welcome!

My last ticket, about 2 years ago, was from a San Mateo County sheriff running K band. Perhaps it was just a fluke? Still I'm not totally sure I'm ready to turn off K altogether. I do have TSR on and that helps, but there is still a lot of noise from various sources.

I know that GPS lockouts are under patent, but I for one would be willing to pay a premium if ALP could work out an agreement to activate that as add on functionality.

From the Bay Area. Probably either 152 or I-580 (more likely 152).

Yeah so its freeway then 2 lane highway, all patrolled by CHP up to the gate at the park. Don't speed in the park, as they are like the gestapo for speeders. Enjoy.
