Hello, friends

I have had my ALP-QUAD system installed for around 3 months now, and it has successfully blocked 2-3 laser signals from state patrol's laser scanners while cruising on the highway. I found the thread from a previous install on another member's STI: SLO Found here (http://radarandlaserforum.com/showthread.php/4526-2011-Subaru-STI-ALP-QUAD). I just bought a 3rd head for the front and was wondering whether I should have the installer change the original mount locations. Here is a picture of the current locations of the 2 front heads:

3330

The rear heads match SLO's install locations, so they don't need to be messed with. I had given him a print out of SLO's install, but he didn't quite grasp how important every aspect of the mounting locations for the diodes are. Based on your honest opinions should I have him change the current mount locations to mimic that of SLO's install or keep them where they are and add a 3rd head in the middle.

Let me know your thoughts, trying to get this done in the next couple of days. Thanks all

Jon

Mounting the heads higher will definitely give you better performance especially when coming over an incline in the road.

Awesome, thank you for that piece of information! Should I just use SLO's 3 mount location or would you recommend any changes on his setup locations?

why not put the third head high up ?? ( for Mounting the heads higher will definitely give you better performance especially when coming over an incline in the road ) Say in the bonnet scoop? And leave your two down below?

And without pointing out the obvious you know if they are grubby they wont work as well...

And without pointing out the obvious you know if they are grubby they wont work as well...In the "bonnet" scoop would not be a good location. The primary target is the LP & secondary would be either of the HLs. Best detection & performance occurs when Sensors are located in the immediate zone where targeting is aimed !

Defense performance is adversely affected by allowing "road salt" film to build-up on the front of the Sensors like seen in the OP photos.

I forget you chaps in the colony's get the police aiming for your headlamps, In the uk they aim for the front number plate,

Also this install ( though fine in the colony's ) would be useless as it stands out WAY to much, for the UK I would go for the way it was in the original pic and perhaps a third head in the " Hood " Scoop for cresting hills or attached to the bottom of the number plate.

Also we require stealth as its a grey area as to the legality of " Parking sensors " if you were to reply to a police man by saying " They are jammer heads " you would be in the poo, However ...if you had pulled and disposed of the usb key and thus they had become " Parking sensors " and you would be in the clear.

If it wasn't for us in the colonies, they would be speaking German in GB. :)

No changes are needed to my locations. JTG performance.
