New to the forum, but I've been using radar detectors since the invention of the first Fuzzbuster. I currently have an Escort 9500ix, and have been looking into an installed system. The 9500ix has served me well, but since I frequently travel to military bases, I need something that doesn't require me to take it off the windshield when I enter a base.

The unit you will need will be the Beltronics Sti-R Plus (http://www.alpriorityusa.com/Beltronics-Sti-R-Plus-Remote-Mounted-Radar-Detector.html) because detectors are illegal in Military bases and the Sti-R Plus is immune from RDD's (Radar Detector Detectors) which are used to sniff our drivers using detectors in banned areas.

Dude they don't use RDD on any installation I've been to. But you definitely might want to invest in a newer detector. Make sure you have a clean or direct install they usually complain when they see wires or when the detector is mounted in plain view.

Never owned an original Fuzzbuster, but it was the first one I ever used (borrowed from a friend). Made a believer out of me. I owned a series of Whistler products, starting with the "Radar eye" model. Welcome to RALF.

Welcome to the forum. bestRadarDetectors gave you sound advice. The performance of the STiR+ will blow away the 9500ix.

Hi j_persons & Welcome to RALF.
Sounds like the STi R+ is the RD for your situation.It's not difficult to install yourself rather than paying the extra $$$ to have someone do it for you.Give BestRadarDetectors a chance to earn your biz before you choose elsewhere to buy.This is also the RD to have if you drive in States where RDs are banned !

Welcome to RALF. I would agree with the STi-R advice as it's a sound detector and it's mounted in your grille so it's less obvious and it doesn't hurt to upgrade to a much newer model. Again welcome to the forum.
