Greetings,

Nice to see so many people willing to share in the community.

I'm a tech enthusiast and slowly getting back to learning more on radars as well as lasers. I used to have --

Passport 9500i (sold recently)
Number plate masks (removed)
Passport 8500 x50 (stolen), along with my GPS :(
- Learned quite a bit from the LEO on filing a report
Some $20 detector from a yard sale

Used to live in Ohio & Wisconsin. Live in central NJ & don't drive much now. Do have very close friends in VA, but don't drive their much. Most annoying experience was laser going off near the Newark airport and wish I had a way to ignore / auto mute when I had the 9500i.

Also married and a family man so a little more sensitive to my driving habits. Have had a few parking tickets over the years as well as less a few speeding tickets (less than 4). Nothing excessive, everything at most +10.

Currently have --
Veil solution on front headlights of an old car I drive

Near future --
Will be purchasing a mid size luxury vehicle which will have GPS capabilities on the windshield in front of the driver. Avoiding those with blind spot monitoring - this actually bothers me as I think people should always check their blind spots. In have a clip-on mirror that gives more visibility.

Wanting --:help:
To learn more on shifters (ALPs stand out, with modules)
To find someone who can install when I purchase a new car, should I decide to go this route
To learn more on RDs (Redline stands out for me, even though there are newer models)
To see member installs & videos (restricted on my profile?)
To actually find someone in Central NJ / meetup where I can see their CI in their dash.

Thanks for reading so far along....

Welcome. You're in a great location to meet members & get installs and testing done. The flip side is you live in LIDAR and RADAR hell, both falses and every conceivable LEO threat

Welcome to the forum. Being in NJ you are close to a great installer. Radarrob did my front heads and did a great job. Feel free to ask anything here. You can speak your mind here.

Welcome to RALF! And enjoy living in the Police State, er ah, the Garden State, I meant. ;)

I'd recommend getting an RD that is good with laser.

V1 -> Whistler CR90 -> RL (for laser performance)

V1c <--> RLee for radar

Thank you, all for responding and offering suggestions!
(Don't know how to use the "thanks" as yet)

@rigtofly01 -- was curious if you had any more updates to your review of the EL? I was following it in another thread. I also can't find someone's posting in combining the EL w/ Redline.

I've recently started using Waze again and found the crowd sourcing really nice. Many a months ago, I didn't use it as much as we were using Google maps and our mounted GPS.

Does anyone have a YouTube link where the EL shows integration with Waze alerts?
(Read about it, but would actually like to see something in action)

@VG -- haven't considered the V1 or Whistler but will start reading on it.

@bestradardetector -- thanks for your message and comparison between the Redline & Max. I'm mostly in suburbia and major highways.
(I am concerned about the included mount, for the Max, but may get a 3rd party or eventually go to a Belmount)

I'm probably going to start off small, purchasing a windshield mounted device which I can move from 1 car to another. I live in an area with open parking can't leave this mounted all the time.

I'm also not handy at all so will need guidance on hard wiring or will seek a local installers help when the time is right. Trying to avoid a cord on the center dash.

I'll keep anyone reading posted on what I do purchase as well as how it's going for me.

Greetings,

I finally decided and got my hands on a Redline w/ Escort Live. Thanks to all for helping share their opinions and suggestions.

The first thing I did was to update the EL smartcord with the "Expert software" that allows for band segmentation and more.... Thereafter I paired it with the Bluetooth on my iPhone - like how quickly can this can be done via a smartphone.

At the moment, I've got all bands on including X as I'm in central NJ. Drove around with the spec display on so I can start getting more familiar with what's around me in some more detail. Already locked out a few Xs I know are around some stores.

Got a few K readings and am figuring those out.

The EL app showed a laser and Ka a few miles ahead of me, but I wasn't heading there......
I'm more comfortable with waze at the moment and not sure if I can make a good comparison as yet. Also need to do some more driving to see how many users reporting on EL Vs Waze.

POP, TSR & SWS are off.

TSR might need to be on if your k hits start getting out of control.

Keep us updated on your Escort Live experience. Its been a while since I used it but when I did it has lots of issues with lockouts.
