It will not connect to the ALP but you will be able to verify the menu's work and the Demo's within the product work without any errors.

So far so good with Beta. The app is running fantastically and a native experience to the iPhone app for the most part, although have been experiencing one weird issue all day...I run ALP Connect in conjunction with YaV1 on an HTC One and an issue that started happening upon install of ALP Connect is that GPS connection on YaV1 sporadic and disconnects regularly. I notice that sometimes when a locked out alert displays, GPS magically kicks in again but not always. It's been very up and down all down and prior to installing (and running ALP Connect with YaV1), I rarely had YaV1 connection issues.

This may just be a temporary GPS signal quality/acquisition issue, but a pretty big coincidence. Could GPS be prioritizing/causing an internal conflict between the apps? Any YaV1 + ALP Connect Beta testers noticing GPS acquisition issues on YaV1 now that ALP-C is installed? I will continue to monitor over the coming days and report findings.

Another "nice" feature to have with ALP-C would be landscape mode. But that's not extremely important at this stage.

Update: The issue seems to have gone away completely. It must have been a temporary GPS acquisition issue.

I have YaV1 and ALP-C and running perfectly together at this point...Something I have been waiting a long time to do! :courage:

Should we be reporting back in this thread?
If so, here is a question. Unless I'm doing something wrong seems like I have to force stop the app after I disconnect and leave the car.
The icon on the top bar will not go away unless I force stop. When I try to turn off the app within the app, It will turn off the main screen but the icon does not go away.
HTC One running 4.4.2

Otherwise everything is working great so far, there is very little lag between the phone & BT module.

I already reported this one. The latest version will show an icon in the status bar and will prompt you when exiting the program, but it appears to still have some issues. AL is working hard on it and making great progress so hang in there...

If you ever want to be 100% certain go to the main connection menu and see if the bluetooth icon is BLUE. If it's white then you are not connected. They need to get the connection issues fixed because they are confusing and are going to give someone a false sense of security.

Android by default does not do that. There are 3rd party apps that will bring alerts from selected programs up front but AL is seeing if they can force a floating kill box with gun id. Product is not complete yet.

I have similar issues with YaV1 on Note 3, I've just made it a habit to quit the app from its menu, then bring up the running apps and swipe it out. Then it works fine when I re-open it and reconnect., maybe this will work for you with the ALP app?

Doesn't seem to be causing any issues with Llama running tasks. I have Llama condition set to first launch ALP-C and then set a one second delay for YaV1 launch, which causes YaV1 to launch second and stay on screen while ALP-C is running in the background.

Llama then shuts down ALP-C just fine and re-launches on power, no issues.

If they do landscape it will be far off. There are too many more important plans ahead of that. For the most part we want all ALP setup options on a future version so you can update every setting with a single update button.

Here are some issues I have noticed on my Galaxy S3. Please note that these could be user issues & not App issues:lemo::

1. Will not auto connect. Must be manually told to connect every time by taping the ALPriority bar. Even when it connects, the icon does not turn blue on the home connecting screen.
2. Home screen "connecting..." box will not self close & circle tail chase just keeps spinning. Once you manually cancel the process with the red cancel button you find the App & ALP connected.
3. Several times the ALP & App have lost connection after about 15 seconds after connecting with no notification. Car just turns white on its own.
4. I use my parking sensor & have found the parking sensor indicating on the screen but no sound. Closing the App & restarting fixed this.
5. Sometimes the App just will not close. Must be force stopped.
6. Noticed it takes about 5 seconds for the car to change to white after killing power to the ALP.

In addition to this I noticed:

After getting a call (but not answering) during an alert, subsequent alerts won't play sound through the phone until I restart the app.

I did get an error code 5 bad control unit while waiting to be tested. The app was on, but I had used it to power off the ALP. Power cycling the app and ALP got rid of the error

I have had two issues where the app won't connect to the ALP. It just spins on connecting until I power cycle the app (force close)

This is on my GS4

All apps on the new Lollipop version will have ART running the show.

The "fatal flaw" almost got me bagged. The latest update will not show when the ALP is disconnected from the App. When the App loses the ALP, the car remains blue with no disconnection indication or protection. You only find out you have no protection when you notice that parking mode no longer works. How I almost got bagged: I passed 2 LEOs in F250's working traffic. I was about 20 over or so when I saw them & adjusted my evil ways. Not a peep from the ALP or V1 as I was not targeted. A few miles ahead I exit & pull into traffic. It was then I noticed my parking sensors were not alerting. The App had disconnected but the car remained blue. This was corrected by manually reconnecting as I had an oh crap moment, knowing that I could have just been toast. Well, that is why they call it beta testing.:D

Which phone and which version are you running? I cant disconnect and keep the Blue vehicle on my phone after the last version. As soon as I disconnect from the GPS it goes to disconnected and then you get stuck at the connecting box and it does not reconnect.

I see , this is completely 2 separated ways to interact with the Alp.

I assume ,using the Connect , that the choice of lid time is retained :
lid time is 3 seconds = Connect will kill after 3 secs unless i press Mute before ,
right ?

Yeah.. Very happy so far with the progress. I will see if they can add the frequency to the Notification Screen. I also requested and hope they can implement it a 3 button option on the notification screen.

Mute/Kill (Same as Car Button but bring you to ALP Connect when pressed)
Dismiss (Goes back to previous window or just close notification)
Go To ALP Connect (Go Directly to ALP Connect)

Just got done with a good ~250 mile round-trip testing out the newest ALP.

I used an Asus Memo Pad 7 (ME176CX Variant) for this trip.

Most importantly, I had ZERO functionality issues throughout the trip. When I say functionality, I mean an issue with that App that could compromise functioning of the ALP system.
No dropped BT connections, no showing the car in defense mode when it isn't etc.

With that said I noted the following observations (keep in mind, some of these may be due to the nature of using it on a cheap tablet, rather than a higher quality device):

1) At least on the tablet, the unit did not show that it was connected to my BT by icon. In the notifications in the top left, the little ALPConnect cross-hairs were there, and the system functioned as it's supposed to, however, my BT icon never went from gray (on but not connected) to white (on and connected to a device). Not a big deal, and likely has more-so to do with the cheap tablet. I really think it's the tablet, as it sometimes fails to see BT devices that are 100% available. So if this isn't happening with others, I'd say ignore this as an issue with a cheap tablet, rather than the App itself.

2) It would be really nice when using another App on the top, when the notification of an alert comes in for radar, it would give the frequency (I think Mirage noted this already).

3) The biggest thing I would like (and I think this may be attributed to the cheap tablet again), is the notification should time out. In other words, when I am using say SuperNote (for MM listings of speedtraps), and a radar alert comes up it brings ALP to the front just as you would expect. I noticed, however, that once the alert ends, unless I make it a point to press mute/dismiss, the screen stays on the notification indefinitely (until I press a button). It would be nice if, say, 10 seconds after the alert finishes, the ALP retracts the notification with no input (if this is at all possible).

In other words right now when I get a K-band false the following happens:
ALP in background with SuperNote on-top. ALP alerts to K-band > Screen goes from SuperNote to ALP notification > Must mute or dismiss, if you do nothing, the old notification is stuck.
It would be nice if it went:
ALP alerts to radar > brings ALP notification up that it is radar > 10 seconds after alert stops, and if no input is detected on mute/dismiss screen, ALP notification screen hides > SuperNote shown again.

Note sure if its possible or if other have had the issue (again, it could be the cheap tablet I'm using), but that would be nice.

Overall, this App functioned properly without issue. I even had multiple BT signals in the car. This beta-App is more 'finalized' than Apps that have made it to the play store (and itunes for that matter). Seems like I got in beta-testing at the right time! Thanks again BestRadarDetectors

I will be doing another 125-miles Tuesday or Wednesday, then again Saturday.

Just got done with a good ~250 mile round-trip testing out the newest ALP.

I appreciate the feedback and input. We are taking notes and AL is implementing everything we can to make the best product out there even better.

I think we are on our last Beta Now which seems polished and is just about ready for release. The final version no longer has the pop up notification box... There were just too many requests for this pop up notification window. Some wanted Radar Frequency Display, Others wanted Front or Rear Notification, Some wanted Radar Signal Strenght, etc. AntiLaser found a way to basically get rid of the notification window and bring the app forward directly so you will all have all the information you requested.

So for example you are in Waze and you get a Radar or Laser alert. The ALP Connect screen will immediately come forward and you will be able to get all the info you wanted. Once the alert is done you can hit the Android Back button to exit the app and go back to Waze and stay ready for your next hit. The same would happen even if your phones display is off and lets say you are listening to music or just doing nothing. Once hit the phone will wake up and go straight to the ALP Connect app.

Several features will need to be enabled for all this functionality:

1. Back Button - Back Button works as disconnect (Set to Now so when you exit program it will continue to run in the background)
2. Notify Options - Notify only or wake up and notify (Set to Notify & Wake up) so if you phone display is off and locked it will be able to wake up the display and unlock the phone to go directly to the ALP Connect app)
3. Wake up Options - You can choose if you want only Laser alerts to wake up the phone or Laser & Radar if you are using the AL Radar Integration

Could this be the first ever real world ALP Android hit in the USA? :smiley_simmons:

FYI. Appeared to work flawless. Notice the second shot via the V1.

Not sure if we are still updating this thread, however, I did put another 250ish miles on the newest Android Beta this past week.

The new one worked without issue. I think the new bringing the APP forward is a good idea, relative to all the issues and things people (myself included) wanted to see done with the notification.

One thing I did notice is that at one point the tablet disconnected and then 'reconnected' to the ALP with a white-car, then presented me with "Error 5" as the car remained white. After some trouble-shooting, I found the connection jack on the BT unit itself was loose. After pushing it in, no more issues. The important thing is, however, that the APP conveyed there was an error and that I was no longer protected, so I could fix the issue.

I am testing the latest Beta (Probably the Final) but unfortunately the last Beta requires you to have newer firmware so it will no longer work with the firmware all of you have. So I am actually Beta testing the next firmware release and the Android App. Keep using the latest version you have and once the final is released you will need to also update the firmware also. I do not have an ETA for the next firmware release but everything will be out before the end of the year. Next Firmware Update, Android App & HiFi Module.

Not sure if this is a bug but I let my Galaxy S3 auto connect without opening the app manually. While in traffic started to get a parking sensor alert. Had to wake the phone, call up the app then silence it. Had I got a lidar hit, I would have had to go to my kill switch instead of using the app. I would have never been able to wake the phone, open the app & JTK. It would have been a JTG on accident.

I think that only happens on the parking sensor alerts. Parking sensors are for road side discos anyway turn them off until you need them IMHO. I have a spare USB that makes my ALP the best parking sensor around with the flip of a switch!

Correct.. The phone wiill only wake up and bring ALP forward for Radar & Laser Threats. You can even choose Laser only or Radar & Laser on the wake up and bring forward settings.

No Need.. The Official Android release was over a month ago. Just go to the Play Store and search for ALPConnect.

Thanks! I thought I remembered reading somewhere that it had been released, but I couldn't find it on the Play Store. Turns out it was because I was putting a space after ALP. Just ordered an ALP unit last night with 4 sensors. Can't wait to install it on my Z06.
