Have been running the ALP Connect on an iPhone 5 with the ALP AL Priority package with the STi-R, jammers, and blue tooth module. Works well except in order to have the speed displayed on the app, the ALP Connect app has to have permission under Privacy>Location Services to access the built in GPS in the phone. I have to click Always under that setting every time I use it as it gets deselected every time it disconnects. Any ideas?

Never had that issue on my 4S, Maybe another quirk with the latest IOS? 8.02 has been having many issues.

Per Kasher who was at the apple store today complaining about other BT issues with 8.02 they told him 8.1 is coming out on Monday so lets hope they fix a lot of the issues they caused with the past updates with the next update next week.

The last 2 updates have been buggy as hell. Phone crashes all the time. Really awful. Hopefully 8.1 will sort it out.

Definitely a bug and happening to many people.
Can't wait to Monday

Now that you mention it, I think mine started acting up after the update to 8.02. Hopefully the next one will clear things up.

Mines doing the same thing. Won't remember the location service option. I hope this next update fixes it.

Well, no joy with the 8.1 update. Location services set to Always after the update, but was deselected about an hour later when I went to leave work. I'm thinking it's an app issue as none of the other dozen apps that use the location services ever has this issue. Anyone else?

Yep! Really thought 8.1 would fix and mine disconnects form blue tooth and I physically have to reconnect it constantly.
Other Bluetooth issues connecting to car are ok now so possibly its on the ALP side that it's not being compatible with ios8?
Or, it's still an issue on Apples side.
Who knows!

re loaded the app set privacy , checked alp set for always, no where near the car , so did a scan found nothing to connect to, went straight back to privacy and alp, always on , had gone ,so the phone dont need to connect to the bt in car to drop out,

all the other apps in my phone that use the privacy thing gps etc, show in the settings always and stay there, just the alp app that loses it , makes mi think is it the app that aint caught up with they latest ios 8.1

I have got so quick now, starting the ALP app then going back to the settings to redo the privacy settings. It's like 2nd nature.

waiting till its fixed as i get in and out of the car a lot , the annoying thing is the bt module is working fine and changes at the the set kmp/h into defence ok just shows Zero, seems to be taking a long while to fix, as i mentioned the only app to have this problem

I am trying to get AL to just use the attached GPS for speed instead of the phones GPS if one is attached. It will help solve the Apple issue for several of us that use the attached GPS. It would also enable speed for those that want to use iPods with no GPS.

I wonder if the issue is that the ALP app manages the BT connection through the app and not through the iOS settings tab. I say this is because the ALP doesn't shop up as a paired device even when it is not connected. If the OS isn't aware of it, it possibly can't remember the location setting for the ALP Connect? Just my theory.

My 4S works great. But still my iPhone 6 is still buggy with it. It's something in the iPhone 6

Antilaser may just end up having to buy a iPhone 6 and find out what the deal is. That's bad for them that IPhone has messed up their groove.

That would be excellent to be able to choose to use the iPhone GPS or the external GPS antenna, as it would also extend the battery life of the iPhone if you haven't got it plugged in to car power.

Kasher - yes, my 4S on 7.1.2 runs well in all departments, so I have no intention of crippling it with iOS 8. It came with iOS 5, so probably iOS 8 is one too many iterations for it to handle :)

Same here. I am just leaving it be. I am really happy with it as a dedicated display. It does drop live BT connection every few minutes and immediately reconnects. That's annoying. This is why I am not a big smart phone fan with counter measure because things tend to be buggy.

No the ALP app is leaps and bounds above Live and it's only been out a fraction of the time. Live is pitiful in many ways.

Just another observation; the "Always" selection for the ALP app under Location Services will stay selected right up to the moment it reconnects via BT, then I have to select it again and it will stay selected right up to reconnecting the next time I drive it, etc. I've also noticed that it will intermittently go back to issuing warnings via the phone speaker instead of the hands free BT connection. Anyone else seeing this?

NBG , No Bloody Good , still gotta go into the privacy thing one go and it's gorn again, now stuck on 1kph :frusty:

this used to all work as smooth as, dont know who or what created this mess but they sure made a good job

I always have to reset To "Always" everytime but worse than that, I am constantly losing Bluetooth connection. It goes on of on off and may stay on a little and then there it goes again.
This is really pissing me off.
It's strange that as far as I can see, Bluetooth connection issues have been fixed yet there is still a problem!
Can it be possible that the system needs some type of software update to fix this?.?.?.?.

everything was ok until the apple up dates , is it possible with the 5s to back to what i had before , or just a thought has the alp connect not kept up with the apple up dates ?

Apple screwed something up. Tested an Apple 4S with IOS 8.1.1 and it was working fine. They did something with the iPhone 6 that is causing issues with the IOS.
The older phones do suck running IOS 8, And they take almost 50% more time to do anything and it kills the battery so if you have an older phone I would suggest not updating.

any nearer yet :05.18-flustered:

Phone 5S everything else works fine, on ios 8, don't know much about apps etc, but is it just possible it's the app and not the phone, kinda like going backwards to go forward using an old phone

Just wondering if there are any plans to update alp connect for iOS so that the speed mph displays without having to go into location services each time you run the app ?

There is nothing to update. Its not ALP Connect that is forgeting the settings.

So can you explain why it is the only app out of the 32 currently using Location Settings on my phone that I have to reset to Always every time I want to use it? The odds favor a problem with ALP Connect, not iOS8.

Maybe you are lucky or those apps other are being given a higher priority so they are not having issues. Maybe contact apple and let them know of the problem and maybe they will look into it. There are only some people that have the issue. If it was the App everyone would have the issue.

I have the no speed issue on latest IOS too.
Its not bothered me too much...

Any news on when the ALPconnect will be able to read direct from the GPS module? That should fix the issue?

I hope it that it is at the top of the list. Every time I get in the car and have to go back into the settings and redo it I swear all over the place.

Yes, ALP found a way to get around this issue but the connection issues with iPhone 6 and IOS 8.0 are still waiting for Apple to fix those issues.
