I'm thinking about taking up a position in eastern BC, where I have lived previously, but it has been a while now, in the Eastern Kootenays.. Last time I lived there I had an Escort which served me well. They rarely used Lidar even in town..
What's the deal with BC now, has the situation changed much?

BC, as in British Columbia, Canada? That's quite a trip from Australia. :)
I've heard they have DALA there, and some LEOs aren't too fond of "parking sensors" if you catch my drift. They aren't illegal in that province, yet.

Yeah, I'm dual Australian/Canadian, born in Australia but I have spent large proportion of my life in BC.
It's a single flight from Vancouver now days.
The area I will be in is no where near any towns over 10000, have they started running laser in smaller towns?
I only ever remember seeing them in areas like Kelowna, Kamloops etc.

Is Ozone on the forum? If so, he would be the guy to talk to. He knows everything about Lidar in BC

I don't think so, but it would be great if someone could contact him and give him an invite.

Pretty much anywhere you go there (next door to me)..you have to deal with a 90 kmph speed limit...and yes laser is growing but radar still very prominent...policed by RCMP extensively..and I'm quite certain they have a 40 over immediate 1 month seizure of vehicle and 50 over they can take it for good...not a speeders paradise by any means
EDIT : I was incorrect with the above information and the correct law is 7 day impound first offence...30 day second and 60 day third within 3 years...but I know for a fact 13 vehicles have been seized when they were caught racing in Vancouver

Ozone also commented on a CM enthusiast who had his LJ's confiscated when he jammed a LEO. Also got a hell of big fine. Only case I heard of in BC where LJ's were confiscated though. Don't think it was in Eastern BC. RCMP out there are wise to CM's, specifically LJ's.

Ozone popped into RDF a few weeks ago so he's around.

I've personally never had an issue in BC with jammers before. I travel from Edmonton to Vancouver 3 times a year without issues, lots of lidar for sure. I even asked Ozone regarding it and he responded with "As you said don't jtg and you will be fine. I've been running them for years and have never had a single problem. Police have even noticed my jammers and did nothing."

Someone mentioned laser in use, what areas was laser encountered? Small towns, or larger areas like Cranbrook etc?

This is the one case that really concerned me, reading on rd.net: http://www.radardetector.net/forums/local-regional-info/78938-bc-canada-li-seized-charged-obstruct-interference-speed-monitor-device.html

I just read through that thread and there was no result of the case. Did he ever post a trial verdict?

I'm wondering if it has something to do with his setup or was jamming for more than 4 seconds.
Or was it a newer variety gun that could identity the LI.

I've encountered laser on the Coquihalla hwy and Hwy 1 in the Fraser Valley which is RCMP. City of Vancouver is laser only. Other areas of B.C. I have mostly seen Ka and some K, but you will run into some laser as well. The only thing you can count out in B.C. is X band and photo radar.
