Has anyone here turned on the Privacy Mode where you have to have the USB key inserted at all times if you want defense mode? Toying with doing this in the event I ever get inspected, I can pull the usb fob and it will only be a parking sensor. I know this is permanent when setup, so want to be a little cautious with doing this.

We don't recommend doing this unless it is critically important because it is permanent. A better solution would be to install the RG module with GPS and set the LID to be greater than a certain speed. That way if you're stopped it will be a parking sensor only.

Isn't there some button combination that wipes the firmware and reverts the unit to parking-only mode? That would probably be better to use when pulled over instead of privacy mode.

You guys worry too much. Put the USB Extension Cord in the glove box and keep a Parking only USB Card in the glove box with it. When you get your license and registration pop the card in.

That is what i did , dont even need to re-start the system .
The Mirage solution is more practical but more expensive.
Those tiny key work very well for me :

The only thing with my suggestion is you have to make sure you pull over where there is a GPS signal. The ALP defaults back to defense mode when it can't get a solid GPS signal. So small caveat.

I run mine in privacy mode. I've made multiple copies of the .key file and have loaded it on other USB sticks and tested it out, it works fine. I do this because in Ontario LEO's have the right to search a vehicle without a warrant. I can hide the USB key in my pocket (or down my shorts) if I have to, and they can't search me without a warrant. I know this overkill, but, I don't want to get the system yanked out of my car. Your choice.
Extreme regulation dictates extreme caution.
Wolf , would you go up to k brake ?

To use the gps speed setting like V1 savvy, is anything else needed other than the gps module?

Yes, Its actually part of the radar integration and the GPS connects to the RG Module.

So I'd need the RG module & gps module to use the gps as a passive jtk method based on speed? And the RG module would only be used with the stir antenna?

I believe it can be used stand alone with GPS only. Down the road I think there are plans for V1 integration but not sure how that will work with YaV1. At the moment, STIR integration is outstanding.

So I can just use the gps module only and utilize the savvy type function?
If so I'll buy a gps module as that will work nicely in CO &TX.

You would need the RG Module to connect the GPS Module and it can work without the Radar being attached.

Without the Sti-R Plus radar integration I cant see the investment being worth it unless you just want to ignore Laser alerts under the threshold but how often do you get laser hits?

I won't know how often until I'm on the road, that's the dilemma; trying to plan for places I've never ridden. My friend in CO says I can almost bet on being pulled over at the border for an herb and/or excess cash search, particularly with the FL tag.

Would be great if you could just hit a button and instant park mode. Surely this can't be to hard to do. There are many parts of the world where it is highly illegal with massive fines, hence why people are asking for this feature:cocksure:

In all fairness the current system of popping a USB in that is set up for parking only would be quick and easy in a car, plenty of time to do that between disco lights and the Leo being at your window.
I'm just looking to make the switch as automated as possible on the bike. I might just install a USB switch in and use that.
