Curious about what accessories the members of the forum are using with the ALP. You may chose more than one answer.

I'll get the M-edition (MRCD) antenna when they sell it stand alone or with the R/G module.

I'm running ALP Connect on an ipod that I bought just for running CMs.

GPS is next on deck -- as soon as it's released.

We have the GPS antennas but will put them on the site in the next few days. If you dont have the RG Module for the Radar Integration its not very cost effective to add the GPS. GPS Antenna by itself will be only $39.95 but if you dont have the RG Module $89.95 it would not be worth the total expense. Now if you have the Radar Package (RG Module + Sti-R Plus Receiver) you just need to add the GPS antenna for the $39.95 and you are good to go.

I currently use the radar integration, and plan to get the HiFi module when it comes out.

Does the GPS antenna just measure speed, or can it eliminate radar falses by location like the Escort systems do?

None currently, but would be interested in ALP connect for Android when available for sure! :)

GPS is currently only used for the following:

1. Laser Interference Defense mechanism will not be activated unless you are moving at the speed greater then what you define.
2. Radar detection will not be activated unless you are moving at the speed greater then what you define
3. Parking alerts will not be given if vehicle is driving at speed above what you define

You can define different speeds for each of these processes when setting up your ALP on the ALP Setup site: http://www.alpupdate.com

GPS Lockouts is a patented feature so we cant offer it at this time.

Hmm it seems that we can't order the m-edition antenna only in Europe, we will have to purchase the entire STI-R along with it...
Is AL thinking about a radar package with the m-edition antenna? if I need to buy the entire STI-R it's kinda useless to use just the antenna on my ALP.

Beltronics sells all parts individually. Shops buy replacement parts all the time to replace bad components. Try try to find another dealer that will take the time to order you in the correct part.

All dealers/shops here have to get it from "Target Automotive" as they are the official distributor...

I think the Radar Integration is in my future. Just not the immediate future.

I saw a video on youtube of an Escort system that actually locked out a legit K band radar gun because of a door opener in the area. Seems like there might be other ways of implementing it though to avoid stepping on the patent (e.g. instead of locking out the ENTIRE BAND, only lock out a specific FREQUENCY within that band at that location, which would be better anyway because it wouldn't have given a false negative like the Escort system did).
