I see from my setup file that I was hit 3 times by the vitronic poliscan on the south bound side of I95 in Maryland. I also got hit on the north bound I95 in Virginia by the Kustom ProLaser & Prolite after he hit me with KA. My bel magnum saved me. Can't wait to do the Radar mod to the AL. I would recommend the AL Priority to Every one.

There are 2 updates for the next update and it will be done in two stages.

Stage 1 - Your Control Modules Needs Updating
Stage 2 will follow shortly after with the CPU firmware update.

To get your unit ready for the next firmware update you first need to update the Control Module (UCSET.bin) - For this update to take place the unit needs to be turned off and while powered off you need to insert the USB memory card. Once powered on this update will install. The Control Module update is not serial number specific.

Thanks Tom - I don't think the referenced 4.2.3 is active yet, as the text hasn't been updated.

I re-downloaded the firmware file again, and it has the same file hash as 4.2.2 that I previouly downloaded. Do we have to wait to upgrade to 4.2.3 first, before applying the control set update ?

What does the update do to the control module?

The next firmware update will require updated sounds for the control module (Especially Radar Alerts) so you need to update the controller prior to the next firmware update or many sounds would be missing from the Control Module. There is no need to update the Controller firmware until they release the next firmware update.

The process is slightly different then firmware updates in that the control module update is not tied to your serial number like the actual firmware updates. The unit also needs to be off prior to inserting the USB memory card. Normal Firmware updates will automatically install if inserted when the unit is powered on.

How do I know if the update to the handset took place?

Sorry. I meant the Control Module.

I downloaded it today and put it on the key. Plugged the key in while the ALP was powered down. Powered it on and it seemed like a normal power up sequence. Does it gave a color or a beep is my question.

Recording mode is for logging received alerts on the connected STiR antenna. It will keep a history of all your radar encounters. Its not a recording option for sending info over to AL, Its really for your own use.

Advanced Self erase function activated by holding the menu button for 15 seconds + additional 3x presses on Menu button. Erases all FW memory except the basic PDC Firmware. After Erase unit does ONLY PDC until the Firmware is updated via USB stick with Firmware update file.

It was asked somewhere else as well. What was improved in Dark mode? I have not noticed anything on boot up.

This question was not asked here or it would have already been answered. In the regions we discuss on this board there is no big change. The only thing anyone here would notice in our common regions is the amount of blinks after setting changes and alerts. In other regions when in dark mode the volume is automatically increased to a higher level then default. (Not effected in our regions)

You know what would be cool, maybe an update could make it happen---But instead of having to push all those buttons in sequence to get to say a stat report and whatever else the ALP can do is have a page in the ALP connect app that all you do select "STATS" and its displayed, Im not all sure what the ALP can do but it would be nice to not have to go through 20 pushes of buttons to bring up certain menu items lol....

New firmware was submitted and should appear on the ALP Update site shortly. This update will include a new firmware update, new setup options if using radar integration and a new ALP Connect app. Summary of the changes are as follows:

Here is a breakdown on the newest update. Posted in this thread because many are ALP Connect improvements:

1. STiR M-edition antenna support added. Now can be fully configured on alpupdate web. Multaradar CD detection has a separate distinct alert & sound.
2. Control Set keyboard gained another function, a button double-click. Also Control Set keyboard button long press did not work at moments, issue resolved.
3. Added City Mode filtering of Radar alerts. Two modes, CityYellow indicated by yellow beep and CityRed indicated by red beep. Modes affect Radar K and X band alerts only. Fully user configurable via online alpupdate setup page. Change City Mode on your ALP by a double-click of a Control Set’s Power button. If using ALPConnect - view alerts for filtered radar signals on flashing City/Highway icon.
4. Fog lights ON/OFF now a tri state button ON/STROBE/OFF, indicated by Constant/Flashing/No green light. Will work only with AL sensors with built in fog feature.
5. Added Dim mode option. Yellow Menu 3 now is a multi-choice 1-OFF, 2-DIMMED, 3-DARK. Dimmed mode is similar to Dark mode but after 10 seconds does not turn off LED blinking completely but just reduces LED intensity (external LED is still turned OFF completely).
6. Added K Band segmentation. K1 (23950-24000), K2 (24000-24050), K3 (24050-24100), K4 (24100-24150), K5 (24150-24200), K6 (24200-24250) MHz and a K Wide (23950-24250) MHz choice. Configurable over alpupdate web page. Use segmentation to remove alerts from Vehicle collision radars (usually >24200 MHz) and from nearby radar-detectors (usually <24100 MHz).
7. Privacy KeyLock mode changed. EEPROM has been designated to store KeyLock activation. Now the activation via Key press has to be done only once and will be remembered after power off. The activation will be cleared when hit by a Laser (a Laser alert).
8. Improved signaling of Front/Rear Laser hit, front laser hit going to behind will be properly shown as front arrows are replaced with rear arrows once laser has switched.
9. Added AutoMute for Radar alerts only. If enabled initial Radar alerts start at set volume for 6 seconds and then automatically lower to discrete volume level for the remainder of the alert. When alert finishes next alert is again announced at full set volume.
10. Added support for various ALPConnect features. Writte to USB, System information, Reset to defaults,…

Sweet, less falses on K band.
Turn off XBAND, Put it into city mode, kill over 24.200 and automute = quiet ride :).
Should finally beat the Redline for detection AND being less chatty...

That's something I can live with happily now :).
Did some tests with my redline...

Well I messed about with a few door openers.
.123, .138. .150 and .167

My Bushnell was a good test.
I know it centres at .130 but depending on what I aimed at, I got it all they way to .147 and down to .101...
Not 100% sure if I like the K band seg idea for anything under .180 so far....

I have not had any real issue like I think Beingaware had but I was also was running with RDR & TSR off and he had RDR on which automatically delays a response to filter out false alerts.

Unlike firmware that you can just insert the usb memory stick and it updates, For the control module you need to turn off the unit and power it back on using the power button before the control module will update.

Error 2 is a sensor error. Have you run a "Reset Defaults" from the ALP Connect App after install? That will memorize all your sensors and their positions. When you restart you should no longer have an error. If you change your configuration or you have a sensor issue you will get another error alert that something changed with the sensors.

Check your wiring and make sure you have the shinkwrap on the din connectors to keep them weather proof. Also enable the parking sensors and walk around and verify that each sensor is working. If all are working you are good to go. Anytime a sensor looses connection you will get the error because it will sense a change in the positions of the connected heads.

I'm a bit confused on the firmware versions.

On the alpriorityupdate.com site, it lists the latest fw as: Control Box firmware update rev. 4.3.4/4.6 (29.01.2014)
On the alpriority.com site, the news section says the latest fw is ver. 1.1.5

Are both of these versions for the Control Box?
Which should I use, and do I need to contact alpriority.com support for it, or should I download everything from alpriorityupdate.com?

Thanks.

This is an "add-on Feature" if you plan/want to use/purchase a separate GPS receiver functionality to the "Priority" that it presently does not have.

p.s. - Do not buy just any GPS receiver...I would wait for AL to find one that will be compatible to use w/ the system...this is a separate issue from the "Defense" f/w to come soon for the Dragon Lidars...

AL Priority - Control Set Firmware update Report

AL Priority - Control Box Firmware update Report
Release 4.3.5/4.7; 08.04.2014

1. GPS speed feature added. Compatible GPS receiver and ALP R/G Plugin required (contact your distributor for availability).
By combining your ALP with a R/G Plugin and a GPS Receiver you can now achieve enhanced filtering options (also online at alpupdate.com) by speed of travel. PDC alerts and Radar alerts can be cut off by crossing the set speed limit. LID defense can also be cut of below set speed limit and converted into detecting only.

2. Added support for Laser interference defense (LID) against new ECCM lidars. Patent pending technology!

3. Fixed Error2 bug on start-up, other stability fixes.
Sometimes on start-up the system indicated Error 2 for no reason (usually if there are obstacles in front of ALP sensors), bug fixed; other stability fixes.

4. Poliscan False Rejection user selectable option added. IMPORTANT: Feature does NOT work with ALG9 sensors.
Poliscan false alert rejection if enabled will significantly reduce the number of false Poliscan alerts but as a side effect maximum detectable range will be limited to some 700 meters (Poliscan does NOT measure beyond 80 meters).

5. Skip first warm-up - New user selectable option added.
If enabled the initial 60 seconds warm-up will be skipped but other warm-up periods (after LID alert counter times out) will remain.

6. Start Ka alerts at Full strength - New user selectable option added.
If enabled all alerts on Ka band will initially be signaled as if they were a full signal strength alerts (for first 3 seconds).

7. Demo mode feature is added, service code 1-2-3.
When activated the ALP system will for 60 seconds go through a demo mode playing its range of Laser and Radar alerts.

8. Control Set Firmware update 3.1. Added new sounds.

If enabled all alerts on Ka band will initially be signaled as if they were a full signal strength alerts (for first 3 seconds). Why would anyone want this? Maybe it should be called "heart attack mode" or "make every Ka encounter point-blank I/O mode" ;) Maybe instead add a "make Ka alert ramp up more urgently" mode like what the V1 has.

I believe it is scheduled for release tomorrow. New ALP Connect will be shortly behind.

Yes, ALP Connect 1.4 was submitted to Apple and it could take a couple or days or up to 2 weeks to appear. It depends how many apps are in the queue waiting to be approved.

After update it would default back to default settings of 4 Second LID time w/60 Second warm up. You need to reload your settings file with your preferences after the update or keep your settings file on the USB drive and then it will automatically reload after each update.

Tom, Just so i understand, Will i now be able to have the LED stay lit while in defence mode or does it just change it so that when you getting painted the led comes on and stays on instead of flash? I ask because i set it to solid and dim and all i got was a solid blue light when hit with Laser and then it went back off.

1 – for Parking detection only
2 – for PDC&DLI detection only
3 – for 3 seconds LID defense
4 – for 4 seconds LID defense

If you use options 3-10, what happens to radar detection? Does it remain the same as it was last configured by a configuration file? The email I just got explains things a little bit differently:

1 – for Parking detection only (no lidar or radar detection)
2 – for PDC&DLI (parking, lidar & radar detection active)
3 – for 3 seconds LID defense (detection & defense active)
4 – for 4 seconds LID defense (detection & defense active)

I take it that this applies for all options except (1), correct? Or is it actually possible to have it in PDC-only mode on the LIDAR sensor side and radar detection on (which, curiously, is NOT an option when generating setup files)?

And if (1) turns off radar detection altogether, is the setting still "memorized" internally so that when I turned LID/DLI back on, it will detect radar again?

Will have to test it later and confirm. Cant test it at the moment but will do it today if someone does not beat me to it. If you think giving you some cool quick ways to to make changes through the control module is cool you will really like what is planned for ALP Connect in the future.

Question.....The set up,was done at time of install few weeks ago with latest firmware current at install but I did not get a USB . I have downloaded both setup and the just released firmware update to 2 separate drives
Can you use 1 drive for both bin files ( control box and firmware) and the setup file or should you use separate drives, one for the 2 bin files and 1 for the setup?
Thanks
And which would you "run" first
The new firmware then the new setup(changed to dark)
Will the box know which one to load first if it's all on one flash drive? Bin then setup or setup then bin?

I tested this by enabling K band and using a speed sign as the radar source. The answer is that changing to PDC only mode and back to a LID mode does NOT disable radar detection.

Short press on the power button turns the parking sensors on or off. This was always that way. You might have turned them off previously not realizing it and when off the light will illuminate with no sounds.

Can you elaborate and I will look into it? After 4.5.1 you lost GPS functionality on your iPhone or after the last IOS update? Does the GPS Function work based on the settings but just not reflect on the app? Need some more information to get to the bottom of it. We have another firmware update scheduled within the next 2 weeks so if the issue is with the 4.5.1 update we should be able to correct the issue quickly in the next update.

Correct but only when turned off. When back on it should act normally with the timed flashes and quicker sounds as you get closer.

And this is with the iPhone 6 or older phones? There are tons of issues with the iPhone 6 and AL has been looking into it for weeks but have not had any luck and they believe the issues are on the Apples side. Only some users have issues with others running the same ALP Connect and the iPhone 6 are fine which leads us to believe their might be some hardware differences in certain phones.

5s phone, another strange thing is the car will turn blue to defensive when u reach the set speed but with 0 kmh reading when not using the privacy Dodge

Because the settings are based on the GPS antenna connected to the CPU but the displayed speed on the app is coming from the phones GPS. So all functions will still work properly but the displayed speed on the phone might not be working if the app does not have access to the phones GPS. AL is working on getting the speed from the attached GPS antenna (Soon) so that you would no longer rely on the phones GPS if you have the direct GPS connected to the CPU.

But the GPS Function was still working? (Muting under set speeds, etc,) Just the speed was not displayed on the iPhone? You also need to go to the app settings and give permission for the app to use the GPS with the latest IOS versions.
Can't see this option in settings, only change mph to kmh or has it to be set in controller optionn

The GPS permission (Location Settings) are not part of the settings of ALP Connect. Its the app settings for the phone itself. My iPhone is dead at the moment and its 1AM here, so I will charge it over night and get some screen shots tomorrow if someone does not beat me to it.

See this thread: http://radarandlaserforum.com/showthread.php/5689-ALP-Connect-app-won-t-remember-location-services-setting-on-iPhone-5

Issue with IOS 8.0 is that its not saving the settings.

Correct but only when turned off. When back on it should act normally with the timed flashes and quicker sounds as you get closer.

Why was the flashing red changed to a solid red? With the old firmware, I could at least tell how far I was from an obstacle by looking at the light (even with the sound turned off). With the solid red light, I cannot do that.

Not sure and I dont really know when it changed. It most likely had to do with changes to make all the new stuff compatible with each other.

Are there any plans on ALP being able to switch between jam and detect WITHOUT changing that via USB?

I would love to be able to switch between those settings so for areas I drive a lot and openly see radar I wont be jamming them 10 times a day (literally that many lol) I now know you can hit the control pad to kill jamming but that is only once and alert has gone off.

You can already do it with the control pad and switch between the LID Settings:

Press MENU and hold as long as LED light turns from Yellow to Blue and you can manually change these blue-menu options:

1. PDC/DLI/LID option setup
Pres MENU/Next once (1) when in a blue menu, then press Enter (LED will turn white when you enter submenu)
Press MENU/Next once, twice, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine or ten times depending on your preference (choose below) then press Enter to activate.
1 – for Parking detection only
2 – for PDC&DLI detection only
3 – for 3 seconds LID defense
4 – for 4 seconds LID defense
5, 6, 7, 8,
9 – for 9 seconds LID defense
10 – for time unlimited LID defense

Exaggerating button clicks, Yes. Exaggerating how many times a day you would have to do that here, No. lol

I basically just want a button to switch modes from detect only mode and then back for 30 secs while i drive past radar vans in my area multiple times a day so I dont get labelled as "that black f150 that has problems getting a speed reading"

I understand I can kill the jam every time but id rather just turn defense mode off for 30 secs with the press of a button while i pass and then turn it back on and they have no clue about a jam at all

Callllllll me crazy, but for the $2000 im into this thing for i would have expected that to be a feature lol

I have suggested many times to no avail to be able to go straight from detect to park or what ever setting on the App
I can't see what the big dal is to do this, apart from time and money, but this is part of continued development fro any App
I particularly want to be able to change straight to Parking mode with a different screen that does not look so obvious to police, so if I get pulled over it does not look suspicious at all.
Australia you will get thousands of dollar fines and loss of points on your license and I'm sure there are other countries where the least attention you get, the better

New update released for standard control set: Control Set Firmware updated to 3.5

Brightness of the LED in Dimmed mode is now user adjustable in 10 levels.

See new settings for the LED in the Setup Tool Application on the ALP Update Site: http://www.alpriorityupdate.com/Setup

Please Note: The Control Set LED is adjustable for ALL users but the External LED's are only adjustable for users with V2.0 CPU's which we switched over to sometime in early October.

We were actually discussing it long before you brought it up, But you might have been the first to post it. You can adjust the control set LED brightness but not the External LED. The CPU did not have the hardware needed as I mentioned a while ago. We made the needed changes and included them with the V2 CPU which was released in October. We dont discuss future releases being worked on until we are close to release and there will be many more exciting things coming in 2015.

No, There is no way to change the hardware in the CPU's to add the circuitry to dim the External LED. If the External LED bothers you that much you can put it in Dim and it will go dark until you get an alert or you can even do a hardware mod that was posted here some time ago from another user.

We have discussed this again and we might adjust the short menu button in a future release to switch between the 3 modes. (Parking, Detection & Defense) on the HiFi Controllers. Right now on the HiFi Controllers and Standard Controllers a short press on the menu button changed the fog light mode which is not a feature used here in the US and is only used in 2 markets. We think more would benefit from a quick way to switch these modes than switching between the modes of the fog lights so look for that in a future release.

At this point the only noticeable difference is the External LED. I cant give out more information beyond that at this time. If you look at AL's history you will see they make improvements all the time and and never stand still. As I gave ECMExpert an example in an email he sent to me I have a Note 2 phone and 8 months after I bought it Samsung came out with a Note 3 and a year later there is the Note 4. Technology always has to improve or you will get left behind. The countermeasure business is no different and while the ALP can defend against everything today we need to stay on top of any new pending technology and keep adjusting hardware to be ready for it.

There is no one encountering xx and no need to upgrade. Your Gen 1 unit protects you against every threat currently out there. If there was an issue we would let everyone know. From day one we always said our priority was to make sure all of our users would be protected and have we not done that?

Guys. If you absolutely must have external dimming then buy a new CPU. IMHO It's not worth it to upgrade for just that "feature". As BRD has already stated the performance is EXACTLY the same on each hardware revision. Rest assured if there is ever a significant difference in hardware RALETC will be on top of it.

I think I got it. I downloaded the two new files, then I re-downloaded the HiFi Control Module File, and Voicepak File. With the privacy key file already on the USB (I DON'T REMOVE IT FOR ANY REASON) it took the update just fine. Same procedure for my other vehicle, only, no HiFi module, so less files on that USB stick. Seems to be good to go now.

Dukes, you're right, without the privacy key file, it will revert only to a parking sensor system. I've got multiple copies of each privacy key file saved for each vehicle.

Yes, There is more to the firmware than what has only been listed and you should update the firmware and stay up to date. We have made a decision to also no longer list any new gun support when added, All this has done in the past is let our competitors know what is new and we spend a lot of money staying on top of everything and there is no point to let other companies know what new guns they should be looking at.

Ok so i have a few questions.. Im sure it is in this thread some where but didnt feel like going thru 25 pages to find it... I know shame on me :)..... So i did the up date and i guess it went fine, but now when i check the sensors it is coming up F2F3 and R1R2? should it say F1F2?.. I check the sensors and they all seem to be operating as they should.
Next thing, I wanted to set it up so that if im not moving that they are just parking sensors, So if i go thru some place where they now allowed i can just show that they are just parking sensors.. So can someone please tell me what Define pdc speed limit is and define LID speed limit, I know that LID time is the length you set for the system to go into just receive mode...
I came to the understanding that the LID speed time was so that it will only alert when above the set speed, Which i set it for 12 and then hit it and it went off as if was set to None...

You found the only bug that we realized with the new firmware. Nothing is wrong with your setup but the ports were accidentally reversed when a check sensor is called (This was already corrected and will be fixed in the next upcoming update in a few weeks). F1 is listed as F3 and vise versa and R1 is listed as R2 and vise versa. In order to make the system act only as parking sensors when traveling under a pre-set speed you need to have the GPS added to the system. If you have GPS attached it will also only ignore alerts if a GPS signal is present. If it does not have a lock it will Jam to make sure you are protected if you lose GPS Signal so if testing in a garage etc with no GPS signal the unit will Jam.
