View Full Version : ALP is the ONLY Jammer to detect the Compact!

As you guys know it's been busy at Raletc. Recently a video was released by Chris at laserjammertests.com in which he indicated that no jammer on the market could detect or for that matter jam the DragonEye compact. Well guys here is part one of the real story.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p7r3OYOisDg
I've heard that the K40 led jammer apparently detects the compact, but it is unable to jam it.
I guess i know the following suite ...

Awesome, let's still not wake the dragon though probably better if he stays asleep :) we can quietly jam him.

It should also be known that detecting the Compact is nothing new, The AL Priority has been detecting it since September 2013.

Which surprises me that Chris at laserjammertest.com would make such a bold statement about NOTHING being able to detect it! I mean really September of last year... then again he still thinks laser interceptor has water issues.

Anything that can be done by man can be undone by man. This thing can be jammed. It just takes a jammer company to put the effort into it. Looks like AL is on the right track.

As long as they aren't in NH or MA I should be ok for now. I drive through CT & NY to NJ every so often (every couple years) so that's the only time there's a possible risk with my LI. I'm too poor to buy an ALP anytime soon. Unless something comes up sooner my next trip to NJ won't be until 2015. In NH it's 99% PL3 and even then it's rare I encounter them.

Come spring I need to put something on my new car. It would be nice to have a shiny new ALP but it's not in the cards (no money). The LI has served me well over the years, and as long as I'm in PL3 country they'll continue to serve me until I can afford something newer.
Even if I get something new (ALP, LI successor or whatever) in the future, I'll hold on to my current LIs for use on the bench for testing my JTK autokill devices. Or maybe a museum will want them. I have "ancient" 8.7 heads. :)

Not exactly.
A few months ago when a new 905 firmware came out, there was a new feature added that actually muted the alarms. I didn't realize it at the time and contacted Leon who promptly offered to send me a new CPU because it looked like my 905's were no longer alarming in the cabin even though the heads were firing and so it would prevent me from being able to JTK. He was pretty surprised to hear this because he'd never had a 905 CPU fail. Pretty impressive. Anyways, I realized the issue once that new setting was discovered the be the real problem and then no longer needed a new CPU, but it was great seeing Leon ready to go once I needed him.
A few months prior to that, I contacted him asking for a replacement control switch. I didn't want to remove the one I installed in my car once it was time to return the lease so I wanted a replacement one and to leave the current one in. He offered to send me a replacement control switch free of charge.
So they may not release lots and lots of firmware updates, but in my experience, the customer service has been fantastic.
I think you will need at least one new ALP head.

some will have good and some have bad experiences with companys ...once you have had one bad and makes it worse the first bad experience you wont go back take example the entire of Australia wont purchase blinder ..even the rep him self stopped selling blinder here in Australia WA so that tells you something ...
maybe leon was good to you but where was he when blinder stated they jam the poliscan even showed on there website for perfect install against this threat ie showed how to mount heads (angles ) etc
then when one questioned another there reply was 2 weeks but then 2 weeks turned out to be exactly 2 years for an update (and im not joking) ..
.turns out that they have did an update but to late to test because no one runs the 905 no more to test ...the ones who run the 905 are still shit scared to test ie first bad experience
all I remember when the blinder released there new jammer they all hyped it up.... but went into hibernation went things went south for them
sorry to be blunt but no one here should compare AL with blinder its like comparing a lambo with a Hyundai getz or even worse a hybrid

My original HP-905 CPU bought in June when they were first came out went up in smoke 5 mo. later in November.Leon was very good & quickly sent me a new CPU.I requested feedback (from Leon & Blinder.dk) on what the failure cause was & even included a drawing of which SMD part on the ckt. brd. was toast.
I asked 3 times within 6 mo. of the failure for feedback on what happened after its autopsy.

Yes, You will need atleast one AL Priority head in the front and back. The system can not consist of all G9 heads to work against the compact. Personally I would try to swap all heads overtime to ALP heads as they are superior to the older versions.

Frankly, even if dragoneye creates the unjamable gun for 'smart' jammers, a Lidatek LE-10 will have it for breakfast, which is from the dinosaur age.
You can randomize your pulse rate till your hearts content, but a brute force jammer will be effective against ANY pulse rate.

You're right I tested against several DALA's and the LE-10 did not do well at all. Instant PT in most cases. For it's time it was good, but now that we have higher pulse rate guns or changing pulse rates it makes the timing much more important. Even a brute force jammer like the LE-10 must introduce a pulse within the gate or window upon which the gun is expecting it otherwise the gun will filter the returns out as noise.

The Le10 lacks sensitivity. Aim away from the le10 and you will get a PT.

You're absolutely right, in a simple calculation: in order to produce white noise which will work for the latest LIDARS to "see" in the schedule they expect to see his signals, you must install a vast amount (and impractical) of jammers as the LE10 when they must be synchronized, so that each cover a different time interval-And it is because a single driver can not support such a quantity of pulses.

I personally tested 2 guys from NYC 1 1/2 yrs ago who had LE-10's installed.I didn't have a DragonEye at the time but easily chewed through them w/ several other Lidar models. The LE-10 was so insensitive I couldn't get it to alert w/ my handheld simulator even @ 1 to 2 feet.

Wow! Serves me right for my ignorance. I'll ask the next question; can a brute force jammer still work with todays more advanced LIDAR guns?
For example; using a set of heads that are desinged for maximum sensitivity and upon alert, activates the brute force part of the system?
