Hello from SoCal!

Well, I finally decided to pull the trigger ALP parking sensors with BT Connect. I got tired of too many close calls of scraping my low bumper against parking curbs ;-) Recently, I've noticed more and more and more of law enforcement shooting laser over radar. By far my eyes, and some situational awareness, have saved me more and more for laser encounters.

My history of CMs started in the 1980's with the original Passport, mounted inside my sun visor of my 1979 BMW 320i, in the rogue state of Virginia. Over the years, I went from Cincinnati Microwave to V1s to 9500ix to my current Redline. I was just about to pull the trigger on STiR+ until band segmentation became available for the Redline. The irony is, I've been too busy (even with a 9500ix as a backup) to send my Redline in for the update!!! I know, I know...just do it...

In any event, I work from home, but I spend quite a bit of time commuting (about 20,000 to 30,000 miles) around SoCal and up to NorCal, Vegas, and Phoenix. I also fly anywhere between 75,000 to 100,000 miles a year -- and I get sick of flying. I find the long drives free therapy -- call me strange.

In all my years of driving, my only two tickets came from getting paced by a motorcycle. No amount of CMs would have saved me. One guy heard me on the freeway, while he was pumping gas IN TOWN and hopped on the freeway. I saw something suspicious coming up from behind, so I slowed to investigate. He caught up and pulled me over for approximately 89 in a 70.

The second guy, hid in my blindspot at a traffic light :dispirited:. The light turned green, the speed limit is 55, I punched it to make a left turn across on coming traffic, redlined 1st and started to redline 2nd, then I saw him in my rear view mirror. He said he couldn't keep up with me -- not my fault his motorcycle is slow :roflmfao:

Picture of said offending vehicle, legally going about 150mph, on the front straight of CalSpeedway:

Welcome to the forum. Your introductory post is the best one I have ever seen on any forum. I look forward to your participation. Feel free to ask any questions. Do you drive your car on the track often?

Thanks! I do try to get out to the track with BMWCCA (BMW Car Club of America) and PCA (Porsche Club of America) pretty often. I'm in the midst of building another m5 as a track toy. In reality, the track is the only place to really uncork the vehicles and learn their limits. Track days are cheaper than speeding tickets. What is funny...After a day at the track, I'll find myself driving slower on the streets.

With that said, our country has some beautiful Wide Open Spaces in our Western States. I like to know when I'm being monitored.

Yes and no. 8250 is stock redline, but I can go to 8500. Laguna Seca is one track that I keep missing track days -- we even have family in Monterey. I have been driven on the track, but I have never driven a hot lap on the track -- if that makes sense.

It does,...& I wouldn't say no to the pass. seat, either -but like you, prefer the Pilot's.Sometimes when conditions warrant, hot laps happen on the freeways. :devilish:

Welcome andrenaline hungry driver ! Nice cars develop appetite.

A study shows that speed sensation produces the same effect on brain as drugs .

In Canada & Quebec , we see more and more lasers , even on highways .
