G day mates

Sure this has been done to death.
When will alp be looking at supporting Android via bluetooth?

It's currently the only thing holding me back from going the full alp magic. :)
Though if the hifi unit pans out to be an equal option for clear audio alerts?

Must say though, very happy with what Tom has done with ALP.
The quality and sensitivity is just amazing!

The Voice Alerts we had recorded are crystal clear either way (Bluetooth or HiFi) I wish I could tell you when an Android version would be released because I am also an Android user. I had to go out and buy a used iPhone just to use the ALP Connect app but AntiLaser can not expect users to fork out $200+ for a used phone or an iPod to use the feature. Hopefully they will chime in with some ETA. I know they are working on the HiFi and that will probably come out before the Android App.

I too am an Android user, but ended up purchasing a iPod Gen 5 for my ALP. The Bluetooth option is awesome and gives a whole new dimension to your counter measures.

Hopefully we will see an Android version soon...

Its the only thing stopping me from buying the BT mod, is because my droid wouldn't work yet. :).
And I just can't justify buying a iPad touch.
Once hifi comes out, will see which way to go.
Out of curiosity, if one did buy Hifi and then then droid BT mod finally happens.

Would both co exist?

Android having 80% market share now I was blown away when I heard iOS was going to get the app first, it's a little easier to develop for, but that has to do with the IDE developers use, iOS developers allow days longer to their development cycle just to get it published in the itunes app store.

Android can just be produced as an APK file and emailed around. Coding for Android in my mind is actually easier than iOS to knock out a working app test it with a few people get the bugs sorted then produce a final version.

I'm anxiously awaiting an Android app too. Can't wait to get my hands on an ALP dual to replace my LI dual setup.

Buy your ALP now, run them on one end of your car and have the LI's on the other end :).

Android is the superior platform for everything, I too had to go buy a second hand iPhone to make ALPconnect work but so far its been worth it. Sound like there is a lot of support for this, why not open source the protocol so others can create their own version or integrate it into their already existing app.. Eg YaV1 :) wouldn't that be a sweet combo

Be nice to have the source code for the app and the BT interface published.
Could program our own mods. :).

Saves us engineers finding the JTAG (building one) off the cpu and figuring it out lol.

What exactly is the HiFi module going to do? If the Android issue is not coming for a while, I guess I could just use the regular control module. Seems pretty straightforward. The wife is not giving me too much grief about swapping out the LI's for the ALP's. The trigger is going to be pulled soon.

HiFi module will just be an update to the standard control module which will add an external amplified speaker and offer clear voice alerts for the system. If you go with the Bluetooth module you really would not need it because both will offer the same voice alerts. We have many customers that dont care about the voice alerts and the standard tone alerts are all they care for. There is no performance or any other difference except the voice alerts.

The hi-fi module is a stand alone control module that is used in lieu of the ALPConnect for voice alerts

May go that route then if the Android feature is N/A when I get the system. I like the HiFi module idea, it's good for us coming over from LI systems. We kind of expect the gun ID alerts now.

You learn the different tones of the current module for LIDAR but I think I would go nuts with false alerts on K band with the beeping.

Voice alerts I can live with, ps, BRD, will we be able to mute the RD alerts with the Hifi unit?
EG false alert in the local shopping centre, my SO would kill me if it kept going...

i think mirage mentioned a patent on the auto mute (beltronics) and alp are working on a solution for the k chatter, yet some user even though they have auto mute, choose not to activate it , may miss a genuine alert,

if ur running bt and a laser alert goes off and at the same time an incoming call comes in on ur moblle, which is also hooked up to ur car bt, do they both go off ? just a thuoght

Correct I would be surprised if AL implements this due to the Escort patent, but they maybe able to implement something similar. Ie a city mode or something of this nature. Unfortunately right now we will have to wait and see what they come up with, but they are well aware of the issues.

Oh I wasn't talking about auto mute.
I am talking about manually hitting the mute button, aka the shut up button. :).
I don't use auto mute, don't trust it.

Just do what I did, pull them apart and learn how they work haha

So is there any more update as to when the Android app wil be released? Even a loose time frame?

A few Months if I was too guess. Too many more important priorities are taking place at the moment.

I'm in for an android BT when they are released. Anytime before the end of May would be great for me (not that I expect ALP to build around my schedule), just figuring they might choose priority based on interest in each planned accessory.

Module will be the same. The hardware can support both platforms as long as the device supports Bluetooth 4.0. The app is not being converted from the Apple version it is being built from the ground up. I have no ETA for the Android app at this time other than to say it's under development.
