View Full Version : Tx advice

So just fooling around on kmph.ca and found out that ALP now sells a tx. I've had the dual setup up front and have had good success vs the dragoneye. It's not THAT common in my neck of the woods but some surrounding detachments have them.
The main issue now is that if I add a tx up front, there's only 7" between the bubble of one of the heads and the tx. The pricing of the tx also means that I could buy an additional two ALP traditional heads.
1) Do I really need a tx to be safe against the Dragoneye?
2) What is better? 3 or 4 regular heads up front or two regular heads + tx?
One of the photos showed coloured lines indicating where I can put the tx. There are two blue options, both of which only means 7" between that and the alp head. The yellow line is almost impossible to mount although I understand that is ideal. Alex at KMPH suggested the third tx head could be on top of the grill right below the hood in the center, but that's not a do-able mount.

Would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks

Leave your regular sensors where they are and put the TX Sensor below (RED) and you will be golden. 2 Regular Sensors will work against mostly everything but the newest round of DragonEye guns would require 3 sensors and the TX fits the bill perfectly.

Thanks. Can you please share how you ended up mounting the tx head? That's my main struggle atm is trying to figure out how best to mount it b/c the mounting bracket encapsulates the entire tx head. It looks like you're using double sided tape?
Would it be a really bad idea to put it on either of the blue lines in the pic in my post? That seems easiest to mount
Thanks!

I built a small mold with epoxy to make the area flat under the logo and then simply used 3m Molding tape. You want the TX Sensor in the center of the vehicle and there is no better place.

Any chance I can buy one of these off of you?
Also, if I put it at the bottom of the three pointed star, it measures 20.5" off the ground. Any idea if that would cut it too?
Maybe i'll just get lazy and stop talking myself from blowing more money :D

Alrighty - well ended up buying one. I'm going to use the bracket and try to drill around the three pointed star - the end result should be the same install like BestRadarDetectors.
My last question is - can the tx sensor be recessed in the 3 pointed star or should it be flush (e.g. right against the outer edge?)

It needs to be flush to the front.

Just to close this loop off. In my last set of runs, it was basically flush to the front. Results were very interesting. I'm sure you'll hear about it from someone soon.
