View Full Version : Problem with configuration after firmware and voice pack updates

I just updated firmware and all other downloadable options. Seemed to work fine.

I also re-did my configuration, but that's not working so well.

When the car door opens and the ALP starts up, I am getting a few beeps and noises and then a loud message that interference detection is active. I cannot figure out how to turn that off.

Also, I turned off parking sensor (have that built into car) but when pulling into a space last night, the LED flashed red very quickly.

Finally, I have a STiR with the detector head mounted in the grill (don't think this is a STiR +) Can't remember but it's about 2 years old. Today, I drove right past a cop set up to tag people, and my detector did not make a sound. I have all bands disabled except Ka which is what they use here in NorCal.

Is there any way to (a) make the start-up noises and lights stop and (b) verify that my config file is properly loaded and everything is working post firmware update?

1.) In your config file turn "silent power up" on
2.) In your config turn your parking distance to off, or 1
3.) Remember your STi-R is a radar detector, not a police detector. Chances are he may not have been running radar

Hope this helps!

Understand the above.

My cofig profile is not loading to the ALP. I assume but don't know that the firmware, control box and voice pack updates got made, but not sure how to tell. I have been turning off the unit at the control box, inserting my USB drive and powering up, but no new config data gets saved. The config file is the only thing on drive.

Should I load the firmware, control box and voice pack on again along with the config file and not upload until I do a factory reset? Never had issues updating before.

is the file named like CONFIG(1) or something along those lines? Or like U#######(1)? If there's any numbers after the file your CPU won't recognize it. That's all I can think of

Nope. Labeled as instructed.

Would you do a reset or just keep trying?

You have HiFi right? Long hold the "menu" and scroll through it til it says "restore defaults and memorized sensors" hit the power button, it will restart then try to insert your USB stick. If that doesn't work lemme know and I'll think of something else

Pull a statistics file and email them to us.

http://alpupdate.com/statistics

Most likey you have something set wrong or your firmware did not actually update and the config file will not update if firmware is not current. The stats file will show your current setup information.
