What is a "P-Plater", I've never heard that term before.

Well, going that fast the Driver shoulda been going even faster & above the max limit capabilities of the speed measuring device so it would blank-out & show no speed at all on the display screen.

In Australia we have to display yellow L plates while learning, usually 12 months, 100 hours, plus log book training before the driving test to get your "full" license.
Then depending on which state you are in, 18 to 24 months display Red P plates, (probation) which limits you to low powered cars, no alcohol at all, 4 points and one passenger, unless family, some states even have a curfew for Red Ps.
You then have to do a hazard perception test, once you pass that, you may move onto green Ps (some states only require the hazard perception test to move onto your full unrestricted license).
Then most states have green Ps, which you are required to have for 12 to 18 months, this removes the passenger limit, curfew and gives you a 0.02 blood alcohol limit.

Then after 3 years, you progress onto your full unrestricted open license, which gives you 12 points, blood alcohol limit of 0.05, and you can drive any car (if have a full open license, otherwise open autos limits you to automatic cars only).

HWP here have 300-500hp cars, they can catch up to most drivers...

Still, doing that speed in a city street is REALLY nuts. haha.

Thanks for the explanation, beingaware. Australia seems to have a very structured path to go thru in order to obtain a person's final full unrestricted open license. I had never been aware of your program in Australia. I have also heard or read that a person has to go thru a rigid path in order to obtain a driver's license in Germany, but I do no know all the specifics. Anyway, Thanks again for the in-depth description of what steps are involved to obtain a driver's license in Australia.

Germans training is a lot more involved and stricter then ours.
