So I notice on the latest AL app for iPhone it asks GPS source by a ALP or Mobile
Does this now mean you don't need the GPS antenna as the phone will be used to define speed to control the respective functions
That's great if it is the case will save many some money

No, That is so that iPad users of ALP can obtain speed when using the attached GPS antenna on the ALP. It also allows phone users to turn off GPS on their phone and save battery power if they have an ALP with an attached GPS.

    Thanks for that
    Since on topic
Is there any way in the future the phone GPS could communicate via Bluetooth to the system and eliminate the need for seperate antenna?

No, All processing needs to be done on the CPU side and GPS antenna from the ALP is much more accurate.

Just tried this for the first time today (using the ALP's GPS antenna rather than the iPhone's).

Using my old iPhone 4S with no SIM, flight mode on, and bluetooth on, drove for about an hour and a half, and the battery only went from 100% to 90% which is a massive improvement over the battery consumption when using the iPhone's GPS constantly.

    Very impressed
