    Update Firmware issue

    Greetings forum:

I constantly get an firmware update on my phone so I download the update and it goes through the install process but does not change the firmware. Trying to update to 5.6.3/8.8. The phone just continues to cycle the update over and over.

    Current Version:
    ALP Connect Version: 8.1A
    Dongle Version: 1.1.6
    Firmware Version: 5.5.8
    PDC FW Version: 8.7
    Region: North America

I tried to update via thumb drive as well and it does not take the update. I tried to reset defaults and memorize sensor. Delete the data and cache of the app to no avail. Restarted phone to no avail.

Any thoughts or recommendations or anything I missed trying?

    Appreciate any and all help.

Is your Control Box an older serial # from June/July 2015 ?

Mine is from 2013. I find that I can't update past 5.5.8. Is there an upgrade discount to get a new unit? I live in SC now and I only see KA band.

If you are in the US your system was purchased from a US dealer you can follow the following link. Your unit needs to be upgraded.

So I assume if we have an older control box there will never again be any updates?

How do we know for sure if our control box is older? When I go to the alpupdate.com to download the firmware upgrade it says I need a 7-digit serial number. Mine is 6 digits.

If you still have your original boxes they have the Mfg'd date on a Label on the box. (the Sensor boxes have a 6-digit number, the Control Box has a 7-digit number & that's the one to use.)

@RedRocket Ah, I found out what happened. So I don't have to tear apart my car, I had the serial number stored electronically with the "U". The textbox on alpupdate only allows 7 characters. With the "U" my serial number is 8 characters. So when I pasted the serial number into the textbox, the textbox truncated the last digit. That's why it wasn't working.

I don't have the packaging box because it was a warranty replacement thus I don't know the manufacture date. I got the warranty replacement mid-2016 and once I got the serial number entered correctly alpupdate let me download. It appears to be working after the update, so I'm assuming I don't have one of the older models. Thanks.
